My orchid has lots of new leaves growing out of the flower stem 6 inches I need to divide?
The primary leaves are more thin and fine, but a new group of leaves with what appears to roots growing on top of a flower stalk to 6 inches high. Does this need to be divided, or is this normal for an orchid?
This is a new plant in training, nontraditional. I think it is called "Ki Ki". Once the flowers developed in the bar and you're ready to eliminate puppy cut "new" mother and place the pot with the mother plant, or a new pot. I'm not sure what the success rate, but is already showing some roots, should be pretty easy. It can take years to mature plant in bloom at a young age. It is recommend that were planted in the mother plant. It should also be a clone of the mother, in relation to the size of the flowers and colors. If you do not remove, there will be no damage to the mother plant. I think that eventually wither and die (the "ki"). I hope that helps good luck —
